I will also give a brief overview of how I work, both practically and ethically.Once you’re comfortable with moving forward, we can begin our counselling journey together. The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. You’ll have the chance to discuss what’s brought you to counselling, what you’re hoping for, and any concerns you might have. There’s no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with, and we’ll move at your own pace.
All sessions are kept confidential and adhere to professional and ethical standards. The number of counselling sessions you will need will vary depending on your individual circumstances, goals, and the nature of the challenges you are facing. Some people may find that a short-term series of sessions, often between 6 to 12, can address specific issues effectively, while others may benefit from ongoing support over a longer period to achieve deeper personal growth. My counselling approach is person centered, focusing on building genuine connections that empower personal transformation and lasting wellbeing.Soineantachd Counselling is named after the Scottish Gaelic word "Soineantachd," which means calmness, serenity, or peacefulness. This reflects my core values and therapeutic approach, of creating a calm, safe, and empathetic environment where clients can explore their feelings and experiences without judgment. My practice is built on a foundation of compassion, respect, and collaboration. Together, we will navigate life's challenges, as we travel along your own unique path.
'All my life I've felt like a square peg in a round hole.......'Instead of describing diagnosis (either conferred by a medical professional or by the self) as a disorder to 'fix', Neurodivergency reframes this in terms of acceptance of disorder as naturally occuring human diversity. Neurodivergency is therefore recognising that neurologically we are diverse in our mind-body (brain and nervous system) functioning. Our mind-body has its own unique ways of processing information then communicating this to ourselves and others which affects how we experience of the world around us.By acknowledging this in counselling it allows us to reflect on and affirm our unique ways of being without judgement.
