'All my life I've felt like a square peg in a round hole.......'
Instead of describing diagnosis (either conferred by a medical professional or by the self) as a disorder to 'fix', Neurodivergency reframes this in terms of acceptance of disorder as naturally occuring human diversity.
Neurodivergency is therefore recognising that neurologically we are diverse in our mind-body (brain and nervous system) functioning. Our mind-body has its own unique ways of processing information then communicating this to ourselves and others which affects how we experience of the world around us.
By acknowledging this in counselling it allows us to reflect on and affirm our unique ways of being without judgement.
